5-year-old boy dies after car crashes into tree, kills 2 adults and 5 children
A 5-day-old child has died after crashing into a tree, killing 2 adults, a man and a 5-month-old girl, officials said Friday.
The crash happened Friday at about 8:30 a.m. in the 100 block of North Washington Street in North Portland, Portland Police Sgt. Greg Brown said.
The toddler was not wearing a seat belt and the car was traveling southbound on Washington Street, he said.
It was not clear whether the boy had a seatbelt.
The crash was not immediately reported to police.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the toddler’s father was driving the car, but his son was not.
He has not been arrested.
The driver, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
His identity has not yet been released.
