‘No-one has seen us’: Woman who was forced to give birth at a hospital says ‘we have not seen each other’
A mother who was born at a local hospital has said “we have never seen each another” after the birth of her first child.
The 30-year-old woman, who was in labour at St John’s Hospital in Chittoor in Chennai, said she had gone to the hospital on Wednesday to give a baby girl but was not given an abortion.
“We came in and I asked for an abortion and they said we have not met each other,” the woman, a resident of Chittiram, said.
“They told me, ‘We will see you in five years’.”
We are a new family.
We had been married for six years.
We wanted a son.
But I couldn’t get pregnant,” she added.
The woman said she was offered an abortion, but it did not happen.”
I was given a medical certificate that said I am a woman.
But when I went to the doctor, they did not give me an abortion certificate,” she said.
After the birth, the woman said the doctors said “No- one has seen you.
We have not had the opportunity to meet each other.
I have been in a very bad place and this has taken a huge toll on my life,” she explained.”
